The Uncanny X-Men is a 1989 action video game based on the Marvel Comics team, the X-Men. It was developed by LJN and released in North America on the NES on December of 1989.

Gameplay[]

The player is able to control several X-Men characters, each with their own special powers, to complete several missions. The game allows for either one or two players. If the player chooses to play solo, they will be joined by an AI to account for the second player. The playable characters are Wolverine, Cyclops, Storm, Colossus, Nightcrawler and Iceman. The player must also defeat many bosses in the game which include Boomerang, Sabretooth, Juggernaut, The White Queen and Magneto. Some playable characters have traits that make them stand out. Wolverine, Nightcrawler and Colossus fight with melee based attacks while Cyclops, Storm and Iceman use projectiles. Nightcrawler can walk through walls, Colossus can't jump and if the player holds B while playing as Storm, she will fly.

Each character has an unlimited attack and a special move that uses their energy and would kill the character if used too much. In order to progress, the player must fight their way towards the boss of each stage, encountering enemies and puzzles along the way. After defeating the boss of the level, a timer starts and the player must progress back to the beginning of the level before the timer reaches zero and a bomb goes off.

There are six missions in the game.
