Captain America in: The Doom Tube of Dr. Megalomann, or Captain America Defies The Doom Tube, is a 1987 action-adventure video game based on the Marvel Comics superhero, Captain America. It was developed by Adventure Soft and released on the Atari ST, Amstrad CPC and the Commodore 64. A year later, the game was ported and released on the ZX Spectrum.
Gameplay[]
The player controls Captain America as he travels around the Doom Tube base of Dr. Megalomann. This base is a long tube inside another tube which splits the areas up into an outer area and a central core. The virus has been released in this tube and players can only access areas that are below their immunity level. By defeating enemies, players obtain ying-yang which boosts their immunity. Captain America can throw his mighty shield to take down enemies but the amount of times he can do so are limited. He can reuse any shields that were used to defeat enemies or if he recalls it before it is lost. Players will collect parts of a password which allows Captain America to get into the final area and disable the missiles. The game has a real time mechanic, which only allows the player to only play one hour until the missiles are launched.
Plot[]
Dr. Megalomann, a mad scientist, is aiming to launch rockets that contain a deadly virus. The CIA then discovers that Megalomann's base is below the Mojave Desert and Captain America is sent in to stop the rockets from being launched and save the world from Megalomann's evil.
